九份 (28 Feb 2008)
At last I'm getting down to blogging. Lost the momentum the blog...
Anw this is a backlog of my trip to 九份 last month. I've realized the importance of updating ur blog asap, coz you forget all the lil details that make the entry interesting. O well.. I'll try to catch up.
The 28 Feb was a public holiday. So we woke up in the wee hours of the morning to beat the crowd. Was suppose to meet Meixin and her fren at 忠孝复兴. I expected a fren as in someone our age.. but lo and behold it was her cute cousin 小布丁. Taiwanese just have the knack of giving themselves extremely cute names but yet sound perfectly normal. (So far I know 2 Taiwanese with the nickname Pudding) Anw I love her coat, it's pink with bow ribbons as buttons. Would have loved to own one like hers when I was young but considering Singapore's extremely hot weather .
After a uber bus long trip 金瓜石, I was pleasantly rewarded with a surprise! Tada.. for those of you who have watched 转角。遇到爱, don't you find the house below familiar. Being idol crazy, I was talking to Shu Hui how it looks like and one of the guides told us that the actual filimg did take place here. :) Of course we couldn't let go off this golden opportunity.
The guide told us that they put a lot of effort into the restoration of the houses. They tried they're best to reuse the original material and methods in order to restore the house to its original state. It really gave carpenters the chance to showoff their skills coz they had to use the traditional Japanese way, not using any nails to secure the structure but only use joints. Just like a jigsaw puzzle. So we were reminded to tread carefully and gently :)
Stairs
We climbed lots of stairs that day (and the following days)... the stairs you see in the picture here are only the tip of the iceberg. You should see how steep the stairs we had to climb afterwards.
太子殿
The next place we visited was 太子殿. I suppose it was the place where the prince resided when Taiwan was under the rule of the Japanese. I can't really imagine that there were actual ppl staying there. Imagine how many years down the road my house may become a tourist attraction , hey you never know.
His highness' comfy bedroom
YamaPi Crazy
Me & Yiqi going crazy mimicking YamaPi. Hoho a fellow Yamapi lover :) Feels great having a fren to do such silly stuff with you so you don't feel so paiseh. Kon!
黄金瀑布
Our next stop was downhill - 九份. It was bursting with people! Very touristy spot. I'm beginning to see the similarities btw the many streets in Taiwan. But I never seem to get bored of them.Probably because of the good food.
I'm amazed at how the workers at the shop keep the flow of customers moving so smoothly. The shop was full of customers. No seat in sight. We were about to make our move when one of the workers stopped us and asked us how many people we had. And within seconds we had a table cleared and a seat. Amazed. But after that I knew why...haha we had to hurry and gulp down our food coz the next batch of customers was waiting. Anw this dish is called 综合贡丸. Loved the meatball the best.
